A birdie told me to!

On a visit to our local

 Salvation Army store,

a little birdie told me

 to look up...

When I did, I couldn't believe my eyes! It looked high end. It looked special. It stole my heart. I hurriedly asked the cashier what the price was on the sweetest bird lantern that I have ever seen. She said, "Oh, how about $15."
Be still my heart! I took it right then and there and came

Ring In The New Year

I am all set to enjoy New Year eve with my family at home sweet home.
How you have planned to ring in the New Year. Are you ready with your New Year Resolution list. If still not then here are some wonderful ideas on how to set goals and how to make New Year's resolutions stick:

1. Begin it with hope and enthusiasm.
2. Set realistic goals and believe that you can do it.
3. Begin with the end in mind.
4. Plane well, then practice slowly and become pro.
5. Talk about your goals with friends & family and ask for support.

Now if you already have decided to stick to your resolutions, its time to make a list of New Year Resolutions. Here are some ideas:

1. Get organized.
2. Get some exercise and try to stay fit.
3. Quit smoking/drinking.
4. Spend more quality time with family.
5. Learn something new you never learnt as a child.
6. Sort out financial worry, get out of debt.
7. Mend broken relationships
8. Choose good food, be vegan.
9. Take a trip where you have never been before.
10. Meditate everyday for 15 mins.
11. Overcome your fears.
12. Volunteer for an NGO.
13.  Do something nice for others everyday, help others.
14. Do something for your country, fight against corruption.
15. Last but the most important 'RESPECT WOMEN'.

With hope in my heart that someday we all people around the world will make our countries a safe and better place to live.

Sharing Spreads Love & Happiness

Heard and believed that 'sharing' spreads love & happiness. So sharing today a very well written, lovely post. As I read the post and saw beautiful painting made by Ritu Dua who blogs @ Beneath My Heart Art I wanted to share it with all my lovely blog readers.

Please go through the post : 'When God Created Mothers' and let Ritu know your views through comments and show some love by following her blog.
Her post made me feel so nostalgic that I took out socks knitted by my Mom, wore it and yes while soaking in sun I clicked a picture just to share with you all. Mothers are great!!!

Surprise Gift!

Greetings, friends!

I hope all of you had a wonderful Christmas with your family and friends and are able to take a deep breath and relax a bit now that it's all over!

As for my gang, we're still cleaning up bits of wrapping paper here and there, as well as starting the daunting task of Christmas "take down." (ugh)

But, before I forge ahead, I simply had to give a "shout out" to my sweet husband for surprising me with this beauty for Christmas:

I had *noooo* idea that he was going to do that and can't wait to get to know it better (although, admittedly, I'm a bit intimidated by its fancy lenses and *grown up* features)!  If you're a Nikon D3100 owner and have any tips and tricks you'd like to share, I'm all ears!

Until then, you can find me in an OCD panic, as I deal with boxes, glitter and *mess* everywhere!

Happy New Year!

Winter and Warmth Of Sunlight

Its not very chilled weather in my part of the world but there is a feel of winter all around. Warm soft sunlight streaming into the living room and making my Buddha more bright and  tranquil.

My "Best Of" 2012

I have selected 10 of my projects that were done in 2012 as my favorites because they are the most  beautiful or beneficial to our home and how we live. In no particular order...
1) New Hobby Garage

This was built by an excellent builder and friend. He put this up in 23 days and it looks like it has always been here connected to our 15 year old house! I use one bay as my space to paint

Oh, Christmas TreeS!

Yup, it's me ... again!

Just when you thought you were done seeing my Christmas  posts, I thought I'd spring one more on ya' before the big day!

I'll make this easy though ... not many words ... just pictures of a few things that I had yet to share.

First up, the tree in my husband's office ...

dressed in deep reds, dark greens, golds and browns and another crazy tree topper ...

full of our "12 days of Christmas" ornaments,

along with a vintage golfing Santa or two.

Moving on over to little man's playroom ... you never know who you'll find on his tree ...

There's Frosty flying around,

and even a Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle ready to attack anyone who dares to mess with any of the ornaments.

In Jax's bedroom, I added a small table-top tree:

dressed in all things sports.

And, sp*eaking* of sports ... step on out to my husband's man cave, where I treated him to a NY Yankees tree (my apologies if you're not a fan).

For fun, I added a few things you'd find on a day at the ballpark, such as popcorn,

boxes of cracker jacks and an ice cold Budweiser.

Lastly, we'll cruise on over to our bedroom.  This tree is dressed in colors of blues, creams and golds to match our room's color palette:

Fleur-de-lis ornaments (from Dillard's) sparkle in the light,

as do words of "Joy,"

and a wild and crazy tree topper.

I'm a bit sad that, not only will our trees be coming down next week, but our festive Christmas cards will, too (idea from Pinterest),

as well as allll of this.

Are you a bit sad, like me, at how fast this holiday season has gone by, or, are you ready to start the New Year with a fresh, clean slate?

Merry Christmas!

Becca

Snowy Snowball Urn

Yesterday we had our first snowfall of the season, and it put me in the mood for some kind of showy snowy decor.

Like a lot of people I know, my inspiration came from Pinterest! What did we ever do before Pinterest? I know that it certainly wasn't as easy to find inspiration as it is today.

Anyway, my inspiration came from this...

I just thought it screamed lovely snow! It

Christmas Whimsy in the Kitchen

When I was a chubby, little girl, I would've loved to have had a Christmas kitchen, full of whimsy, complete with a tree on the island,

and tiny elves climbing a ladder to help "decorate,"

by covering the tree with ornaments made of faux candies, miniature cookie sheets and lots of yummy treats ...

and, where Mrs. Claus was waiting to offer you a gingerbread cookie.

When I was a chubby, little girl, I would've loved to have had a chalkboard on the pantry door, wishing everyone a happy *holly*day:

and, a yummy candy bar to sneak sweets ...

unless, this little gal tried to stop me.

When I was chubby, little girl, I would've loved to have had a Christmas kitchen with canisters full of a couple of the things you'd need to make holiday cookies ...

and little vignettes splashed everywhere to make me smile ...

I would've loved to have had a soffit covered with snow-filled garland, revealing another sign of the season ...

and, other signs and sayings splashed around, too:

As I decorate my kitchen every Christmas, I dedicate it to that pudgy, little girl who wanted a colorful and festive kitchen, dressed for the holidays.  And, what fun it is that I can now attempt to create that for my sweet baby boy, who isn't so little anymore:

I just hope he enjoys it!
