Inspiring Eminent Artist: Smita Bakshi

So this is the first post of new year and I wish all my readers a very wonderful and very happy new year. I am starting this year with a very creative artist and art lover Smita BakshiLets meet Smita and know how she rediscovered her lost passion and I am sure you will be inspired. Over to Smita............

First of all I would Like to thanks Disha for featuring my artwork on her blog.  I am so much in love with her creativity.
I am Smita Bakshi an MBA, HR Manager by profession. I am very professional, focused and methodical when it comes to work. I have been doing good in my career. I am married and have a seven year old boy and eventually they are married to my art work now. I have been very creative and art has always been my first love. I started painting when I was ten years.  I remember drawing the diagrams for my friends in their projects. I had made a lot of paintings which still hang at my relative’s, friend’s and my own home. It gives an immense pleasure to have the love and respect gotten from all of them.

Life changed after I finished the school,  all these years I had been so busy that I almost forgot that once I was an art lover.  Last year I had a doctor’s appointment and while waiting for my turn I randomly started sketching and from then it never stopped………

Amazing isn't it

Oh!! I just love these cushions..........

I don’t consider myself an artist. I’m just not comfortable with that word at all. I like to just think of it as pursuing and living a creative life. I am me, a person who creates because it makes my soul happy, centers me and fills me with a sense of self satisfaction and joy. In fact, my husband didn't even know that I could draw until I started SketchiiStudio and so did all of you who are reading about it, take some time out from your busy life and find the “YOU” in Yourself.

About my Art :

SketchiiStudio is my creative space. It makes me happy to have my own space , a dedicated space and filled with the things that inspire me and make me feel good, just like I did.  Creativity makes my soul happy, centers me and fills me with a sense of self satisfaction and joy.

My style of work is primarily figurative and abstract so I mostly do illustrations and abstract art. My art is made very creatively with a lot of detailing. I absolutely adore pure and bright colors and love to challenge god's natural chroma and patterns within my imagination. I use ink, water color and acrylics on paper and canvas mostly. I have promised myself to have at least one artwork added every fortnight. So stay tuned and visit my page - SketchiiStudioI have recently opened my shop.

Thank you so much Smita for joining us. Wish you great success ahead!!
Here are some links where you can get in touch with Smita and check out her amazing creations.

"Wintery" Sitting Room ...

Happy New Year!

Ahhhhh, Christmas is now officially packed away, BUT, that always leaves me stumped as to "what's next?"  New vignettes … colors … and arrangements invade my brain at full speed … can you relate?

In our little sitting room, instead of going "coastal" for the warmer months (that I WISH would hurry up and get here), I decided to keep the greens and browns and stay a tad "wintery" for now.

After the tree came down, I moved one of our garden seats in here to hold a few decorating magazines that always seem to distract me!

Before coastal birds fly over to our accent chest, a simple vignette sits there for now:

I took down the Christmas branches and added shed antlers and wintery churches to our bookcase:

Apparently, SOMEbody emptied the "cocktail" decanter … oops!

I couldn't resist adding one little piece of coral here … maybe it will chase this frigid weather away!

If "that" doesn't work, maybe these little teases of Valentine's decor going on elsewhere in our home WILL!

Just might have to splash a little bit of "l.o.v.e." in here soon, too!

Stay warm, friends, and thanks for stopping by!

The Right Place At The Right Time!

Talk about LUCKY! I was at the right place at the right time on this one!

The story goes like this...I'll set the scene,

I was fluffing my booth at our local antique mall. I ran into one of the guys that works there.

Me: Whoa, can I touch that?
Mark: Yes, it's heavy.
Me (looking at the price tag): Wow, $20! Is it for sale?
Mark: No, I am buying it from him. (looking over his shoulder)

Where have you lived?

I had been working on Christmas gifts and this is one of the projects that I did for my 23 year old daughter, Lisa.

These three framed states represent the three states that she has lived in so far. Lisa was born in Tulsa, Oklahoma, and raised in Quincy, IL.

She is currently living in Madison, Wisconsin. Using my Silhouette Cutting Machine, I cut out each state shape and had the cutter

Highlights of 2013

This year, instead of listing 10 or so things that I think were the best posts of my 2013,

I am going to list in categories instead!                   Here we go...

Category - Chairs
2 chairs come to mind. My most popular post on a chair that I painted the upholstery and sewed a cover for the seat and a pillow.

This second chair was transformed with paint and a shabby chair cover made.
