DIY 3-Tier Stand

Who knew

that this pile of

JUNK

could turn out

to be a

fun and useful

3-tier stand!

I saw these made by Angie at Knick of Time and knew that I loved them so much, that I would try my hand at making one. Sure enough, it was an easy and fun project. If you don't want to make one, just watch for them on Knick of Time's Etsy account. Angie sells a lot of these.

I went to garage

Jazzed-Up Acorns!

Talk about

Cute

 And

Fun!

This all started when I visited my friend. Upon arriving, I noticed that her acorns were huge compared to mine...

That got me to thinking how fun it would be to create some cute but various ways to Jazz-Up her acorns.

First, I washed them and put them on foil, then on a cookie sheet. I baked them at 170 degrees for about 2 hours to make

Vintage Pedestals

I gotta say

        I

       LOVE

          THESE

            PEDESTALS!

I was given them from a friend. She wanted me to fix them up and sell them and split the money with her. Well, that is not what happened! Here is what they looked like when I received them...

I cleaned them, glued areas where they were breaking apart, and noted all the cool detail...

 I realized

Furniture Problems and Solutions!

The furniture problems...

1) I spilled some rubbing alcohol on my vanity top while cleaning earrings

2) I have bleed though on my painted vanity

3) I sold my vanity chair at my last garage sale

The Furniture Solutions...

First of all, I didn't know that rubbing alcohol was a furniture stripper. Now I know! How did I get to be 56 and not have the happen before? I usually use the

Ice Cream Chairs Transformation!

Don't you just love the look of

Feed Sacks?

Who knew that they

Would become so popular.

They bring back the simpler times...

That warms the heart.

If you remember this picture...

Of when I showed you the vintage wooden ironing board turned Welcome Sign (you can see that post HERE), that is also the first time you saw the green chair. I actually have TWO!

I first

Another Painted Fabric Chair!

 I am so excited

 to share with you

 another one of my

 half painted fabric

 and half upholstered chair!

I bought this chair from a good friend of mine. She had painted the wood and caning white, but I repainted it to be less distressed than what she had. This is what it looked like at that point...

I used it in my Green Toile guest bedroom because the green

My MacKenzie Childs Inspired Guest Bedroom!

I said that our house is finally considered complete.
Warning...loads of pictures below!!!!!!!

No more major tear up jobs that require my young-and-cute-handy-dandy-handyman being here, but I did enjoy him here and the process every time. However, it will never be complete as far as changing decor and decorating! You know how that goes. I thought I would spend more time just enjoying the fact

French China Hutch!

Be

Prepared

To

Drool!

I was not looking for a china cabinet, even though I have my Great Grandmother's china.

But, it seems when one has something on their mind, these things tend to find a solution.

I happened at a garage sale last fall and came upon this...

I adore French looking furniture. There were several things going for this piece;

 1) It's French

Tall and Short!

This is the story of two fern stands. One of the stands is tall and has great bones...

But she started out in life a bit drab and on the plain side...

With some added flair on the top (found on The Graphic Fairy), she's now ready for the catwalk...

Then we can't forget the short one that was two pieces of wood married together...

I think the base was really a wooden candle stand.

Black Beauty

What to do with veneer missing from furniture?

My options are:

1. I could ignore and just paint right over the missing veneer hoping to camouflage the area.

2. I could fill in the the space of the missing veneer with wood filler then paint the whole piece.

 3. I could strip all the veneer off and sand it all down and then paint, depending on how much veneer is missing.

No Befores, Just Afters

Every once in a while, I get in a hurry and forget to take a before picture. That is the case with this table.

Someone did the work of stripping it down and refinishing it, but with the norm in my booth, if I don't do something different with a piece of furniture, it just sits there not selling!

The top was pretty with the wood inlay...

So I simply paint the legs with Annie Sloan's French

Sit A Spell

I love it when a unplanned plan comes together!

That is the case with these two chairs...

I found them out at a garage sale recently...already with the hard part done...stripped to the bone!

Here is what they looked like,

Though this is only one, there are two identical ones. Someone was thinking of me since they stripped them and were rip for the picking!

I decided to keep much of the

A Bread Box and A Table

I will start with the bread box...

Below is how I purchased it at a garage sale...

Simple redo, just cleaning and a bit of Annie Sloan Old White Chalk Paint later.

Now on to the table. This was a kit from our local discount store that was still in its original box when I purchased it at a garage sale...they had never opened it and it was many years old.

I glued and screwed it

Cutest Baby Gift EVER!

I am so pleased with the outcome of this baby gift and think it's the

 CUTEST

BABY

GIFT

EVER!

I was lucky to find this unique old magazine rack at a garage sale. It is the biggest one I have ever seen.

I painted it up for a cousin that is having her first baby. But before I painted it, I used 4 inch vinyl lettering down the sides. After painting it, I just pulled off the vinyl

Mud Room Update

Do you remember this?

After building the new Hobby Garage, we were able to free up the old tool room and convert it to our new mud room.

And I had picked up this bench and redid it for this room...

I have been on the lookout for more decor fitting this space. Decor Steals was one with their three vintage looking key locks and a local artist was another with a picture of a bicycle

Duncan Phyfe Coffee Table

What an interesting antique table I found! I believe it is walnut and it's unique with the framed glass removable top! Here is the before...

I felt it needed just a bit of jazzing up. Don't cringe that I painted walnut!

I just did the legs and stretcher bar so calm down!

I think the Annie Sloan Old White Chalk Paint brought it out of the old days and into today! The top is amazing too.

Tables, Tables, Tables

Here are a few tables that  I recently transformed.

1. Wicker Tray Table

I transformed it by painting the scared up top and just the lower part of the legs with Annie Sloan Old Ochre Chalk Paint.

What a great house warming gift to the young couple that are taking such good care of my rental house!

2. Double Tier Side Table

Under the glass is faux paint to look like a wood design

First Thing I Purchased on Joss and Main!

I found a shabby bookcase while looking at the Joss and Main website.

At first I didn't purchase it because I had never purchased anything on this site and whatever is purchased is non-returnable.

I had to put some thought in it and these offers don't last long.

I missed out on this the first time around.

I couldn't get it out of my head and I couldn't find anything else that I liked as

MacKenzie Childs Style Painted Pieces!

It's a known fact that I adore MacKenzie-Childs style, and Courtly Check is my favorite. Here I go again, painting some aluminum garage sale pieces inspired by M-C.

And a coffee pot...
