Rang Decor Readers Creative Spaces: X

Meena Sriram
Today Rang Decor Reader Meena Sriram shares few creative corners of her 1700 sq.ft town home in Ottawa, Canada.

Meena explains, 'I wanted to create a light- filled home that is serene, relaxing, with an airy breezy feel and lots of punchs of colour'.

She has used a lot of different natural textures to bring a homey feel, sisal rugs, bamboo blinds, a lot of old art prints carefully handpicked from antique stores in Chettinad, reframed and hung in groups.

She continues, 'I’ve also tried to keep it very simple, functional and clutter free. Plenty of plants and books are a must! Its been a year since we moved in and I’ve pretty much worked with what I had without spending much.'

Meena feels homes don’t have to be perfect but they should be original and personal. She loves inspirational quotes, and blackboards, so they're all over her place.
sri9
She has a thing for old world charm, so she has tried incorporating plenty of vintage and flea market finds.

The old radio in the kitchen, the pickle jars and chettinad tiles...

She believes it is important to always choose things that are meaningful to you as opposed to what is trendy at the moment and feels you don’t need to have a lot of money to create a beautiful home, just a little creativity, quirkiness and adding that personal touch makes it your own!

I agree, your lovely home is proof of that. Thanks for sharing few corners of your home with readers of Rang Decor.

I'm a Tease!

LOL ... tweaking away in my dining room!  I'm LOVING the look of mercury, cream and brown in here this year.  And, totally loving raffia strewn about, too!  Here's a little peak!  Let the decorating continue ....

And, thanks to my sweet and super talented bloggin' buddy, Debbie Debbiedoo, for kindly giving my cute little chalk paint pumpkins a shout out (here)!  I can tell you that she's decorating her beautiful home for Fall this weekend, and it will be fabulous ... don't miss it!  I'm hoping I see a few Duck Egg Blue pumpkins show up in her decor!  Thanks, Debbie!

Have a wonderful day, everyone ... hope you're splashing Fall around, too!

Framed Book Page Tutorial

I decided that I would treat you to a tutorial on how I make my framed book pages. Are you wanting to learn how I do it? Here we go...

Choose a frame and get a piece of foam core or cardboard.

Pencil a line from the inside of frame onto the foam core. Make sure you put your pencil inside the area of the frame inset. Use a razor blade or knife to cut out the shape. Trial fit the foam core

My New Use for Chalk Paint!

I've always loved white pumpkins and enjoyed using them in my Fall decor last year.  I want to add more in this year; however, I can't seem to find little ones ANYwhere.  Soooo, I bought a box of these little cuties at Wal-Mart and introduced them to my AS Old White chalk paint!

Before:

VOILA!

Now to finish the rest of them!  I look forward to showing you soon where I used these little cuties.

Thank you, Annie!  And, just think, everyone, you could paint pumpkins any of the chalk paint colors you have to tie in with your color palettes!  I bet a few Duck Egg Blues, with a hint of dark wax would be fabulous!  Hmmmm ... might have to try that myself.  LOL

I hope everyone has fun plans for the weekend.  We're hitting the beach with friends and watching college football tomorrow.  Speaking of football, I had fun making this USC Gamecock wreath for a friend of mine ... I have a few more orders to fill.  Don't you just love Fall ?!

Thanks for stopping by!
