Vintage Shabby Chic LivingRoom!

I thought you might like to go on a tour of my friend Gail's living room! She freshly painted the walls which as you know means, An excuse for a whole new furniture and art placement.

The room is so large, Gail is able to have back to back sofa's.

Gail is a DIYer and loves to craft.

The house is an old Dutch Colonial with very high ceilings and large spacious rooms.

 She has a soft

My MacKenzie Childs Inspired Guest Bedroom!

I said that our house is finally considered complete.
Warning...loads of pictures below!!!!!!!

No more major tear up jobs that require my young-and-cute-handy-dandy-handyman being here, but I did enjoy him here and the process every time. However, it will never be complete as far as changing decor and decorating! You know how that goes. I thought I would spend more time just enjoying the fact

Our Study / Multi Purpose Room!

Our study has changed over and over in the 11 years that we have lived here. According to the building plans, this is really the formal dining room. Though I think formal dining rooms are pretty, if you are like me, with a very small family, that can be a waste of square footage in your home.

But it's more than a study...it's a quiet sitting area, great for reading a book...or a quiet

Furniture Dance!

If you are a follower, you will have noted that I just shared THIS post on my Stairwell Reveal! Which brought on...New carpet and padding. So this is the domino effect!

What brings on new carpet and pad?

The complete emptying out of each bedroom! Including closets because there is carpet in closets!

What a cleansing production that was.

With that brings changes. Getting rid of

Stairwell Reveal

I FINALLY did it!

Can you tell what it is?

I am generally not a procrastinator, but I certainly was dragging my feet on...

 painting the railing.

It had an oak rail, newel posts and partial oak tread.

However, we put in beautiful walnut flooring in the two opposing rooms, the living room and the study...

This hardwood flooring did not coordinate well with the oak railing.  It

Helpful Hubby!

See him up there?

He is the most helpful Hubby! Along with his helpfullness, Hubby gives himself to me all day for my birthday. Basically, I GET TO BOSS HIM AROUND!

Remember when I had painted the upper fireplace white to match the mantel (way back in February), but lacked the finishing touch...trim? If not, you can see that post HERE.

So I asked Hubby to cut and install the

Mud Room Update

Do you remember this?

After building the new Hobby Garage, we were able to free up the old tool room and convert it to our new mud room.

And I had picked up this bench and redid it for this room...

I have been on the lookout for more decor fitting this space. Decor Steals was one with their three vintage looking key locks and a local artist was another with a picture of a bicycle

My Master BathRoom Update!

Some of my reader's may remember my long ago post on my master bathroom.

About six years ago, when I first met my Young-and-Cute, Handy-Dandy-Handyman Trent, together we gutted my carpeted, huge garden tub and single sink master bathroom for a more functional and timeless style that it is today.

However, we didn't do one thing...

Let's start from the beginning, shall we?

Our Rental House Tour

We purchased this cute little shotgun house about 8 months ago from a builder friend that had it as a rental for 9 years.

Initially, we purchased it for our 22 year old daughter to live in and we put about another $10,000 in it.

She lived here for 7 months until a job took her out of state.

So now what do we do?

We took to opportunity to fix it up even more though it had been gutted

Then & Now Part I

Talk about change! The pictures that I am about to share with you show what the changes in the past 10 years have been, from what it looked like right after we moved in,
to what it looks like now.

However, it also shows...

...It shows just how much my decorating style has evolved
...It shows my maturity in taste as I am aging
...It shows how cameras have improved
...It shows how DIY and

Dramatic Kitchen Make-over

I am beside myself with excitement to share with you my newly painted kitchen! I think the color change did amazing things to the look and feel if this space. Come on the journey with me.

My young-and-cute-handy-dandy-handyman and I tiled the back splash with smaller white subway tile and a black pencil trim tile to tie it to the black of the counter-tops! What a difference...

I had

My New Gray Dining Room

Why do I fall in love so easy? I'm talking about with decorating? Is it my calling? Or is it because it's just plain fun...and I like CHANGE!

My sister's and I think it's because we were raised in the military and we moved around A LOT! I went to 14 different schools before I was in the 9th grade!

Back to my dining room. I am in love with the new Gray color.  It's a custom mix by

Our Study

Recently I showed you my new buffet that caused a domino effect in my home.

This is part of that domino effect. In what is this house's actual formal dining room, we have converted it into a study since we don't have a need for a formal dining room that would only get used a couple of times a year and just be looked at the rest.

This back alcove was 2 1/2 inches too small for the new

Guest Bedroom Redo...Again!

I really do have other things to do, but just get such a kick out of decorating that I repainted my largest guest bedroom...again!
That would be four times in 10 years! Not bad for me!!! Hubby says that I am making the house smaller with paint a millimeter at a time! Smile
Here is the before, when I redid it a couple of years ago and now the much simpler after...

Okay, so to clarify, I am

No more Dirty Little Secret!

Remember my post on our Dirty Little Secret where I shared with you the rot that our wood siding and trim had after only 15 years? If not, you can see it HERE.

Rot at arrow
We had our young and cute, handy dandy handyman come with his new crew and replace All the wood siding on the upper story with vinyl (Brand: Certainteed; Color: Savannah Wicker). The bottom story is brick.

New Mud Room!

I am so excited to show you my

        New Mud Room.

It came about quite by accident. You see, the builder added a walled in room off the original two car garage that has access via a doorway from the garage, a doorway into the house (laundry room) and a doorway to the outside. This room is about 14 feet long by 7 feet wide with very high ceilings.

Initially, we used this room as a "

New Cool Rug!

What I didn't share with you when I revealed my newly painted master bedroom (see that HERE), was the area at the foot of the bed that has just enough room for a 3' x 5' rug.

Yes, I could go a bit bigger but the hand scraped elm hardwood floors are so beautiful that I wanted to see more of them. I just wanted something to accent the floor.

So, have you heard of WUSLU? (http://www.wuslu.com/)
