French Chandelier Love

Do you ever WANT for no real reason,

Other than...

You just do?

That was the case with

                   my dining area chandelier.

This is the one I am referring to...

It came with the house and I have gotten many questions over the years as to where I bought it.

It was in the formal dining room when we moved in,

But we use that room as an office and so

I moved the

My Homemade Orb Chandelier!

I am in love with these orb chandeliers.  I bet you are too.

When I keep focusing in on something, I realize that I really love it and would love to have it in my home...but always I want it the cheapest way possible...if I can find the space for it.

Initially, my deep kitchen window held a table lamp. Then I made this hanging basket light. We have ceiling can lights and this light is

Legs to Lamps

When I first saw these, I knew what they would become!

I had done this before and it's really not that hard. I used many layers of paint knowing that I was going to sand down and distress these enough to see all the layers of color, two shades of gray, old white, and pale green on top.

I drilled a hole all the way through using a very long drill bit and then from the back bottom to

White Teapot Crystal Lamp!

The best thing about Winter for me is, that I am able to stay in out of the cold and create! This peticular day, I decdied to combine a tired looking vintage crystal lamp with ceramic teacup, saucer and teapot.

I took the old crystal lamp apart and cleaned all the pieces.

You just don't realize how easy it is to drill holes in ceramic and glass with a special drill bit that you can

Give me more Light!

My sewing room is an itty-bitty room
that is under the stairs in the basement
                                                                              and I just love it!

I have a built in wall unit that keeps me organized
and I built a doll house, sans the inside, to cover my sewing machine when not in use!

A Floor Lamp to Drool Over!

I recently did a post on this side table

Now I want to show you just how UGLY

This floor lamp started out...

When I saw this piece at a garage sale, I loved the lines of the legs and the double lights. I hated the brass table part. But I had a vision for this.

But wait, be patient with me because I must start at the real beginning.

This lamp was found in this exact

Do YOU Crave Change?

Do You Crave Change?

I have been working on my son's wedding that is coming up on Nov. 2. I have not shared anything with you because I don't want to spoil the surprise. It's going to be in a barn in Kansas. So far I have made burlap table runners, chalkboards, canning jar looking banner, and 8 men vests. Today, I will be making tags for the wedding party. These tags will go on their

Electrifying Sconces

It took me a while, but I finally DID IT!

What did I do?

Well, years after making two sconces and using them for wall art, I FINALLY electrified them.

Let's go back to the beginning...

I purchased two of these sconces at a garage sale.  I think I paid 50¢ for them.

I then found two metal framed mirrors at Hobby Lobby and I liked the finish, so I painted the sconces to

Tea Time

Lately I have been in a lamp making mode.

Here is another (if you are not to tired of lighting).

I got this cute little silver teapot at a garage sale for only 25¢! I drilled a hole in the top of the lid after taking off the round wood knob. I then drilled a hole in the back side for the wiring to come out. I used one like this...

To simply wire it. Add a bulb and shade and it's

Charming One-of-a-Kind Teapot Floor Lamp!

This is one of those transformations that turns out so fantastic, that it pains me to sell the piece!

Are you curious to find out what you are looking at?

Well, let's take a look...starting with the before!

I purchased a vintage heavy floor lamp table at our local thrift store several months ago. It looked like this...

I knew it needed some work, but thought if I

Cute Teacup Light

Let's make this cute

Teacup Light!

It is easy to do once you have mastered drilling china with a diamond ceramic drill bit.

You can find tutorials on the web for that.

Next...

You will need to purchase a candle bulb light kit like this...

And have your drilled teacup and saucer like this...

Then just unscrew the light kit, following the package directions, and thread the cord

Hanging Map Light!

What a cool and fun project this was...

And so easy to do!

Here's how I did it...

My daughter moved out of state and when she left our rental house, she left this behind...

A simple paper shade.  Now I can't take credit for what I am about to show you because I saw it somewhere...I just don't remember where!

Knowing me, I didn't want to throw away a good paper lantern, so I got out

Burlap Roses

Just a quick little diversion from a harder project that I was working on!

Let me explain. I was working on making a chair slipcover that was challenging. Sometimes when I get overwhelmed and need a break but not from creativity, I do a simple little project...feel like I accomplished something and can resume the challenge before me at hand.

That is the case with this little lamp shade.

Make it Useful!

It's sad when you're unwanted!

To be tossed in the trash like your nothing.

Of no use.

To no one!

That's the way this lovely lamp started out life with me. I found it sticking out of a dumpster like this...

It appeared that someone may have made it out of walnut in say, a shop class. I knew I could give it charm.

Give it style.  (and rewire it)

Make it useful again.

 It

Double The Chandelier Fun!

I found two chandeliers at a garage sale. I thought with some imagination and paint, they could be better.

However, before I got started, I sold one, the larger one, to my friend. Sorry to say I didn't take any before pictures, but if you imagine this as shinny brass you will get the idea. All she did was paint the brass white and have her husband hang it in their newly painted dining room.

Coolest Sconce EVER!

Do you want to hear about the

Coolest Sconce Ever?

I happened on an absolutely huge garage sale from years of accumulation and living. In fact, it was more like a flea market! I found three of these in varying degrees of disrepair...

This was the only one that was completely there with the face plate and all the crystals. At first, I did not intend to keep any of these sconces

Garden Teacup Chandy

Do you remember this teacup CANDLEIER that I made and did a post on last year? No?

I had stripped the old electric wires out of it, added these lovely teacups after painting the chandelier. I thought it came out lovely and put it in my antique mall booth.

And it didn't sell. I figured that people want electrified ones, since those sell in my booth. So I brought this one home.

I hung it

My NEW Old Bridge Arm Lamp!

Before
Last fall Hubby and I went to a Fabulous Flea Market in Bloomington, IL, and I picked up an old bridge arm lamp that I fell in love with. I did a post on this trip HERE, however this is the lamp in the shape that I purchased it.

I cleaned it up, saw some rust on the straight  part of the pipe, so I only painted those two areas brown. I loved the patina on the rest of the lamp, so I left
