Inspiring Eminent Artist: Safal Chitre

Namste my dear friends and readers!! How have you been.
Last month I was super busy with my work. It had been roller coaster ride for me but life is back on track, I really don't know for how long as I have several important things to do and share some exciting news with you all. Right now blogging has taken back seat but still you can expect some sporadic posts on my blog. Thanks to all creative and talented bunch of people who keep writing to me. It's because of all those lovely people that I can't stop blogging. One such beautiful and colourful mail I received sometime ago and I couldn't stop myself drafting a post about this wonderful artist. A self motivated and self taught artist who is shining our country's name abroad, Safal Chitre.

Safal a very warm welcome on 3D. Please tell us more about yourself.

First of all I would like to Thank Disha for featuring me on her wonderful blog!
I am Safal Chitre. Currently live in USA, originally from Mumbai. I am self-motivated artist. By education I am an Engineer however, always attracted towards art world.

I have always been fascinated by the Handicrafts and Art. I  love to decorate my house with handmade stuffs then it could be paintings or craft. The simplicity and the elegance of warli style impressed me so I learnt warli art. From last 4 years I have started my artistic journey and it is flourishing. Apart from traditional warli style, I am trying to give modern look to it  by adding  colors and patterns on various mediums. Now I have found my own style that I can say as Contemporary Warli.

Before starting warli, I was thinking this art is simple to work with but friends honestly it is not that easy, you will require lot of patience and dedication. And then see the miracle, you will fall in love with its beauty and rhythm. Although I practiced this art using different mediums such as oil, acrylic, ink on clay, wall, fabrics, glass, canvases; I love to work with wood and clay as well. Apart from paintings; I am more interested in making home decor stuffs. It inspires me to paint even more when I look at my artwork enhancing beauty of my home.

By getting shortlisted among professional artists in art galleries in USA from various countries and states, I am getting wonderful exposure to showcase my talent. This gives me great satisfaction that I am introducing people here this beautiful tribal art of India which is not even that much well known in India too. For my success my husband has main role in my life, without his support I could not take my hobby to professional level.

In future apart from warli I would love to learn and try other folk arts too.

Thank you Safal for sharing your creative journey with us. I wish you good luck!
Dear readers I hope you enjoyed reading about Safal as much as I did. To see more of her artworks, you can visit her Facebook page Safal Art Studio & her blog Safal Arts

It's time to say good bye. I'll try to post more frequently. Keep visiting this space :)

Inspiring Eminent Artist: Sabita Sahu

To gaze on beautiful artworks for all day long and meeting talented artists virtually has become my passion. I love to know how they discovered their passion and how they started following their heart. Today I am welcoming an artist from Hyderabad to be a part of 'Inspiring Eminent Artist' series on my blog. Dear readers sit back, relax and enjoy reading about Sabita Sahu, a wonderful painter.
Here is what she has to say about her passion......
Painting

I am Sabita Sahu basically from Orissa, educated as Bioinformatician and moved to Hyderabad after marriage. Married to a very supportive husband who has nurtured the growing seed of creativity in me and we are blessed with a baby boy who has turned 3 now.

Here you can see the mother child paintings done by Sabita. Aren't they depicting the pure and unconditional love between mother and child. I loved all the details.

Paintings

Definitely the praising go to my husband who has supported me to start painting by gifting me all painting stuffs and asked me to bring my painting alive to this world. And slowly from then i could get a grip for painting and started painting new themes and this was how this journey started for me.
Besides painting I have the burning desire of creating stories of what those paintings really mean to me and so I started blogging to share the stories behind each painting. Women and plants are my all time inspiration and so you will find these as common in my paintings.

Seeing her paintings is a pure joy. How vibrant and detailed they are. In these below paintings I love the different shades of womanhood.

I must say that, with Disha's inspiring tips and ideas of balcony garden, I started my own balcony garden and trust me, the greenery washes out dust of my soul and make me fresh every morning and evening when I see them dancing with joy to the slow blowing breeze.

And that's what I love about my blog. It is a place that connects me with some awesome and wonderful people out there, who never fail to encourage me.

Painting

Blogging is totally new to me and I promise I will learn more and keep painting and posting more. Coming to my future plans I have a idea to run a small nursery garden and also setup a business relating my artworks.

Inspiring Eminent Artist: Trishna Patnaik

As I promised in the last post, here I am with an artist who was doing great in her professional life, but then she realized that 'Art' is her first love and now she is following her heart. So without further ado, let me introduce you to a very talented painter- Trishna Patnaik

Please let us know little more about you.
Disha, Thank you for this opportunity.
Well, I am Trishna Patnaik , a Bsc (in Life Sciences) and MBA (in Marketing) by qualification but an artist by choice. A self-taught artist so to speak and, I have been practicing art for 13 years now.
I have had a few professional stints in various corporate of repute. Three years of my corporate stint made me realize that I’m designed for something more meaningful.  I found my true calling in my strength, my hobby, my inner voice, my freedom/ platform to express, my passion that is painting.

I’m now a full-time professional painter pursuing my passion to create and explore to the fullest.  Contemporary Art is what gets me going. I am working smart on developing my unique style. It’s a road less traveled but a journey that I look forward to everyday.

I am glad to know that you are following your heart now. When and how you realized your passion about Painting.
Painting for me has been synonymous to meditation. It has been my stress buster, my get away, my platform to express, my energizer for as long as I can remember.
Coming from a service sector inclined background getting a decent job after a decent degree was always a priority in the family! But there was a perpetual uneasiness in everything I pursued .Because I was doing it as I ‘HAD’ to do it. Only when I use to paint I felt ‘Free’. There was no ‘Have’ to do it then!
Also the other part of the story is that use to dislike the whole thought of an art class in my school. It was so rule book based, so full of marks and grades etc. Draw and paint a rainy day or accident on a road or a mela etc. were the usual topics in school.  I could never really understand that I am good in this or inclined towards art!Probably because of which the thought to go to an Art School never occurred to me at all.
I preferred art which I learned and did as my hobby with various artists during weekends and vacations. It was in my 10th std vacation that I enjoyed the whole learning process a lot more! I kept coming back to it in every vacation or even weekends till my graduation. In fact I began even painting my own artworks. Then my MBA happened and then I got a job.
As I got more and more into the routine of a desk job, I felt more and more claustrophobic, disoriented. It was because I lacked a goal! I found my solace only when I painted! So I moonlight as a painter. In the process worked for almost 16 hours a day for almost 2 years! Finally I took the call to be a Full Time Artist.
I believe I am born to paint. I believe I am fluid. In other words creative, hence sticking to a routine for a lifetime would be ridiculous! I am glad I am a self taught artist, as it keeps the spark of the perpetual need to learn going. I am learning till date and will always continue to do so!

That's very inspiring Trishna. We would love to know more about your passion. How many mediums and techniques of painting you have worked on.
I have dabbled with all mediums right from pencil to charcoal to colour pencils to pastels to water colours to acrylics to oils!
Each medium is beautiful and has something unique to offer.
I have applied techniques as per the artworks requirement. The purpose of using a technique is not to ‘USE IT’ to prove a point but to add value to a painting without making that ‘VALUE ADDITION’ obvious.
I believe the whole point of been a painter is to express rather than impress.
And once you are set to only express, the medium of expression can vary and the techniques could be straight out of the book or even something which has never been seen before.

I really admire your thought process Trishna. Though for a passionate painter like you it's difficult to answer this but I would love to know which one is your favorite medium and why.
Now that’s difficult to choose. It actually depends on the painting.
I never paint on the paper or canvas. I always paint in my mind first and then I only manually pursue my artwork with my hands.
Sometimes I need Charcoal to complete my rendition, sometimes its water colours and sometimes even Acrylics!
I love the fact how a small Charcoal stick or crayon can create fire on paper!
I love the ease with which water colours leave their base transparent and are so intriguing!
Acrylics, well what can I say, it’s the fastest and the least messy of all the mediums. A masterpiece can be created in no time!

What inspires you to paint. Is it nature, human, everyday life or something else.
Everything around me is inspiring. If not to the conscious mind then definitely to the subconscious However, I am more inclined towards three different themes within the Contemporary Art arena.
One theme is Abstracts, the second is Graphics and the third Faces.
I like the inflow of colour in various modes, directions, paths etc. to make my abstracts.
I like the amalgamation of shapes, silhouette, forms etc. to make my graphics.
I like to work around faces of woman with a contemporary touch to it.

What other than Painting excites you.
Well, it’s a cliche, but I guess I eat, live, breathe painting only as it’s my passion.
I want to pursue a course in Curatorial Studies in the near future to expand my wings in the arena of Art.
I do enjoy the thought of baking though and would like to explore the idea of been a film critic some day.
And I am planning to learn the guitar this year, as I enjoy music on a very basic level!

Please share the links where we can find your Art work and where my blog readers can get connected with you.
I am planning on having my own website by next year maybe.

Last but not the least, as everyone dreams of being something in life, what you have dreamed of.
My dream is to leave a legacy behind me. I don’t want to live a regular life where after 60 years, I get a pension and have a farmhouse and I say to myself I have lived my dream so now I will relax and enjoy! I want every day to be a challenge. I want everyday to be new. I want to wake up every day with a smile on my face and clueless of what life throws next at me. My dream is to be a perpetual stream of water that is in no hurry to find a shore.
____________________________________________________________________________________________
Trishna it was great pleasure to know about you and your true passion. I wish you all the success ahead. Thoughts play a major role in determining the quality of life and your thoughts just reflect that you are living a beautiful life. Thanks for inspiring all of us.

Inspiring Eminent Artist: Hari Krishna

Today the art form that I am going to showcase here on my blog is very interesting and unusual. Let me ask you a question, how do you express your feelings and emotions? Maybe by crying when you are sad, laughing when you are happy, dancing when you are joyful or yelling when you are in pain. Let me introduce you to an artist who expresses his feelings and emotions by running his fingers in the sand and giving it a shape that tells a story and conveys his emotions. Readers bring your hands together for world renowned sand artist Hari Krishna.
Hari Krishna is a sand artist. He has done B.F.A from Hyderabad. Hari belongs to Nellore, Andhra Pradesh. Here is how he shares some of his cherished moments with us.

Sand Artist Hari Krishna

My Sand Art got national recognition when I expressed my grief for Nirbhaya case through my sand art. I felt very sad and helpless and I wanted to stand against such heinous crime, so through my sand art I expressed my emotions and feelings about the importance of women in our lives as a sister, daughter, wife, mother. After the sad demise of Nirbhaya my this particular sand art video went viral on Facebook and I was approached by Zee Networks to perform at Zee Sa Re Ga Ma Pa grand finale to dedicate that work to Nirbhaya.
Watch this video and I am sure you will be in tears.

I got national award in YouTube global video challenge 2012 which was sponsored by Indian external affairs of ministry, Google, YouTube & Incredible India. In this contest the concept was to show the greatness of India in 5 min video, it was a tough job to show the greatness of India in 5 min. I pondered over and over again, finally I came up with the idea of depicting our Indian culture, customs, folk dances, instruments and different famous places in India through my sand art.

Sand Artist Hari Krishna

I made a video and got first prize. Which was awarded to me by Salman Khurshid, (then Indian external affairs minister) and Anurag Kashyap (Film Director) and some foreign embassies from different countries, in Delhi.
I got an opportunity to work with Shankar Mahadevan (music director) for ZEE Sa Re Ga Ma Pa grand finale, when I performed my sand art at stage Shankar Mahadevan sang for my act which was dedicated to Nirbhaya.

Sand Artist Hari Krishna

Now I perform sand art for social causes like child labor, terrorism and natural disasters like Amarnath flood and create awareness through my art. I feel blessed when I receive a heartwarming response from millions of people around the world. I get all the encouragement from my father and my fans.

Sand Artist Hari Krishna

Drawing with sand is not that easy, it takes lot of patience and I need to practice a lot before every performance. Each performance requires lots of preparation. First, I draw the story board, then I experiment on sand table, time is the major factor as I have to change the creation one after another according to the story.

My ultimate objective is to create awareness about our environment and planet, say no to plastic, I created 7 feet Eco friendly Vinayaka statue in my colony and made approx. 500 small Ganesha statues and gave away them to people during Vinakaya festival. I have planted around 600 plants in my area and encourage people to do so.
Sand is not the only medium, I have used tea also to draw a portrait of our honorable Prime Minister Mr. Narendra Modi.
Watch this video and you will be stunned!!

Art is present everywhere in nature, you just need to open your mind and observe the nature, you will find lots of inspiration. That's where I get my inspiration from. In the last I would like to say, please don't pollute our planet keep it clean, conserve energy and grow more and more plants!!

Thank you so much Hari for inspiring all of us. You are a blessed artist and your send art is truly mesmerizing. I could not look away or even blink when I watch you performing sand art. I wish you a great success ahead!!
Dear readers how do you like this art and did you enjoy watching videos...let me know your views.

Inspiring Eminent Artist: Eesha Kolli

Festive season is here and I bring to you a post exclusively on handmade cards. Don't you love sending cards to your dear ones on special occasions. When I was kid I used to send cards to all my dear ones on festivals and on their birthday too but I never bought a card from market I always preferred handmade cards and I still prefer handmade stuff. So today on Design Decor & Disha I have pleasure to introduce you to an artist who makes beautiful cards for every occasion. Each card is unique and beautiful. Paper Craft

About Me
I am married to a wonderful and very supportive man. I am currently living in New Jersey, USA. I hail from Andhra Pradesh, India. I am an IT consultant by profession. However, my innate passion for art and crafts has made me grow into a freelance ‘Pencil Portrait’ artist, Mixed Media artist and Storyboard artist. I enjoy getting my hands on any of these - 'Card making, Designing, craft making, sketching, doodling or painting with any medium'. That’s my ‘Love For Art in Many Forms’

Paper Craft
Love Birds Card

What drew me into Card making:
I have developed a great interest in Handmade Greeting cards lately and have been working on them since 2012. A wide array of tools, colours and techniques involved in card making, probably, drew my attention. You could apply almost any technique, use any medium of art and make a greeting card. Handmade cards reflect the personality of the artist. Handmade cards reflect the time, effort, thought, planning, wishes, exclusivity and creativity that you have undertaken for the person you want to greet. They are unique and not one in a lot of hundreds or thousands. Card making is not time consuming like many art forms, with right tools in hand. For a working woman like me, this is an advantage.

Paper Craft
Anniversary Card

My blog and Me
‘Love For Art in Many Forms’ has been started in June 2012, with the idea to showcase all my crafty creations which involve paper as a medium. It is a great way to connect with fellow crafters and also participate in multiple challenges.
I was able to make it into several design teams through this blog. This is the point where I draw all my inspiration from.

What are the tools I use for card making

My Inspiration
Anything colourful and striking inspires me. I visit the kwernerDesigns and  RaspberrySuite blogs very often, as these women inspire and motivate me like no other. Pinterest is another important source of inspiration for me.

Where to find my art work
All my art work can be found on my art blog  ‘Love For Art in Many Forms’ primarily. I also have a Facebook page andPinterest board where I post my cards regularly. I will be more than happy to get connected over an email (illokashee@gmail.com)

Other interests apart from Card making
I love interior designing and party ensembles. I browse through various websites and blogs to observe the trends. I’m particularly interested in Ethnic Indian interiors and ‘Design Décor and Disha’ is one of those blogs to go to.
I also do some freelance party decorations and pencils portraits.

What I Aspire to be
I constantly dream and work towards turning into a designer for cards and party ensembles. I’d love to see my brand of cards deck the galleries and stores.
